Burnside Stars

At Assembly today we had 3 certificate recipients - Riley, Ahi and Eseta.  We are very proud of these students and what they have achieved this week.  Riley showed Integrity, Ahi showed Excellence and Eseta also showed Excellence.
We were also very proud of the three children who received Cool Kids Awards - Heather, Tyson and TK.  They were able to have a hot chocolate with marshmallows with Mr Bateman.  Thanks for bringing the teachers back a marshmallow too :-)

Mathematics Activities

These were our Can Do activities for Mathematics.  We enjoy working on our strand maths activities each day with our buddies.  These help us to remember important skills that we have learnt, including our shapes, patterns, length language, and to work on developing our fine motor skills.

Postcard from Miss Radford

We had a lovely surprise in the letterbox today.  Miss Radford had sent us a postcard all the way from London.  We are going to send her this picture to say Thank You and that we all miss her.

Te Waka o Matariki

This was the sentence that Mason wanted the Te Waka o Matariki group to write together.  We all helped to form the sentence and worked out that there were six words in the sentence.  We then stretched out the words and wrote down the sounds that we could hear.  Hopefully our caterpillar will grow bigger as it has 3 leaves to eat.  The caterpillar's length is found from the number of sounds that we wrote correctly and the leaves come from the number of words that we wrote correctly.
Thanks Mason for a great idea!

Buddy Reading

Every week we meet with our buddy classes, Room 10 and Room 12.  We enjoy listening to stories with our Year 6 buddies.  They are awesome readers!

Discovery Time

It was awesome to see some of our Investigations learning happening during Discovery Time as well.  Riley and Isabel had a great time experimenting with different ramps and equipment to make pathways for the marble to travel.

Discovery Time

We were very excited to come back to school and see the changes in our learning spaces and the new things that had been purchased.  AND then we were able to use them during Discovery Time.  We LOVED our new kitchen unit and train table!  We had a great learning time, making sure that we showed respect to our new equipment and learnt where to put it back so the next person can use it easily.
Congratulations to Eseta who was our Discovery Time Star.

Bottle Top Sorting

We have been very busy sorting all of the bottle tops we have been collecting for our art work.
Miss Browne tipped them all out on the floor. We then worked as a team to organise them into their colours.
It was hard work but we had a lot of fun at the same time!!

Discovery Time Stars

This week we celebrated Pagen and Tyson who were our Discovery Time Stars.
We were very impressed by the way you both showed the value of Respect by packing away and organising the equipment without needing to be asked.
Ka pai Pagen and Tyson!
