ANZAC Day

We have been learning a little bit about the reason ANZAC day is special to New Zealand and Australia.  We have made poppies, read a brilliant big book called Dawn Service and have been using some resources on the internet to dress a soldier ready for battle 100 years ago.  You can click here to use this at home also.  We talked about why we thought the soldiers needed these things on their uniform and why they wore a uniform.  This was a great discussion with some very thoughtful, considered answers.
We have also been looking at some photos and ribbons that Miss Browne has from her granddad who was in the First World War.  We have then made our own medals like the brave soldiers received.

Poppies

Our finished poppies that we made with Trengrove Kindergarten.

Trengrove Kindy visit

We had a visit from 3 of our friends that go to Trengrove Kindergarten.  Khalea, Cyrus and Daniel are all going to be starting school soon and they joined us along with their mums and Trish from Trengrove.  Lots of us enjoyed seeing Trish again and seeing some familiar friends from when they used to go to Trengrove.  We made poppies as part of our investigation about ANZAC day.
