Mathematics Activities

These were our Can Do activities for Mathematics.  We enjoy working on our strand maths activities each day with our buddies.  These help us to remember important skills that we have learnt, including our shapes, patterns, length language, and to work on developing our fine motor skills.

Te Waka o Matariki

This was the sentence that Mason wanted the Te Waka o Matariki group to write together.  We all helped to form the sentence and worked out that there were six words in the sentence.  We then stretched out the words and wrote down the sounds that we could hear.  Hopefully our caterpillar will grow bigger as it has 3 leaves to eat.  The caterpillar's length is found from the number of sounds that we wrote correctly and the leaves come from the number of words that we wrote correctly.
Thanks Mason for a great idea!

Handwriting Stars

Today in the yellow room for handwriting we wrote the letter y. Miss Smits had such a hard job choosing the handwriting superstar that she had to choose two!!

Mason worked hard to make sure his lower case y's were sitting nicely on the line.

Collin made sure his capital Y's were starting at the right place every time!

Well done boys we are very proud of you!

Today Ahi, Collin, Mason and Alexia were our leaders! They did a fantastic job in leading the whole team in our rhyme!
Check out their awesome performance!

Thank you Alexia!

On Friday Alexia and her mum brought us a pineapple and some grapes to try.
We wondered why pineapples are so spikey and guessed what it might look like inside.
We really enjoyed this special treat!

Swimming Lessons

We have been having a great time at our daily swimming lessons and have been making lots of progress.  Miss Smits and Miss Browne are super proud of everyone having a try at something new.  Tino Pai Piwakawaka!
