Today during hui we had 5 little speckled frogs come and visit to help us sing our old favourite for the week! We were impressed with how high they could jump!

Hui
This week in hui we sang one of our old favourites - two little dicky birds.
Today Ahi, Collin, Mason and Alexia were our leaders! They did a fantastic job in leading the whole team in our rhyme!
Check out their awesome performance!

Sequencing
Every week we practise an old favourite nursery rhyme and learn a new one as part of our morning hui's. Miss Radford brought along some little piggies and some props of what they were doing in the nursery rhyme. We had to work out what order they go in. We said the nursery rhyme to work this out.

Hui
Every morning we start with our Team Hui. During this time we do lots of rhymes, chants, pattern making, and find out about our day. We also do some activities to help us with our speaking and listening.
Today Miss Radford was in our class. She bought along a bird's nest that she found at Jellie Park yesterday when she went to the gym. She thought that this would be a great thing to bring along because of our rhyme this week - Two little dickie birds.
We investigated what we thought the birds had made their nest out of. We saw sticks and feathers and even some dental floss. There were 5 things that we have to try and remember for tomorrow. I wonder if anyone will be able to?
Thanks for bringing this along Miss Radford - it was super exciting and interesting.

Hui
Every morning we start our day with a Hui. A Hui is a meeting where our whole team starts the day in the Red Room together. We sing some nursery rhymes and do different activities to have a positive start to our day.
This morning we learnt some clapping patterns to go with our rhyme this week, Pat-a-cake, Pat-a-cake.
On a Thursday we also discuss those people who have been 'caught' showing our values. Today we celebrated Destiny who received the sticker for 'Compassion' and Satriani who received the sticker for 'Integrity". We are very proud of both of these girls who show the Burnside Values.
This is the sticker we use to represent 'Compassion' because Pukeko's are very good at looking after their nests and their babies.
This is the sticker we use to represent 'Integrity' because the Four Winds that blow over Christchurch can't be seen but they can be felt. If you are showing Integrity you know the right thing to do even when there is nobody watching.
