How many children will fit in a box?

Today Miss Smits brought in a big box for us to decorate for the school fun day on Saturday. We thought it would be fun to see how many children we could fit in the box before we started to decorate it.
We tried the boys first. We discovered 5 boys could fit in the box.
Next we tried the girls. We could squeeze 5 girls into the box as well!

Butterfly Garden

The Red and Yellow Rooms loved getting out in the butterfly garden as part of our investigations topic this term. They worked hard as a team to pull out some very big weeds to make our garden ready for some new plants.

Te Waka o Matariki

We worked in groups to sequence some story cards.  We worked in groups to say which picture came first, next and last.  Then we had to make up a story to match the pictures.  We had to look very carefully at the pictures to see what order to put them in.

Discovery Time

We were very excited to come back to school and see the changes in our learning spaces and the new things that had been purchased.  AND then we were able to use them during Discovery Time.  We LOVED our new kitchen unit and train table!  We had a great learning time, making sure that we showed respect to our new equipment and learnt where to put it back so the next person can use it easily.
Congratulations to Eseta who was our Discovery Time Star.

Burnside Stars

Collin and Alexia were our Piwakawaka Burnside Stars that we celebrated at assembly this week.  Alexia has learnt all the alphabet letter sounds and Collin has been working so hard to make his handwriting the right size and shape, and to make it the right way AND sit it on the line.  We are so proud of both of you.  Congratulations - Tino Pai!

Bottle Top Collectors

Collin and Elizabeth went on an adventure to pick up bottle tops that have been collected for us.  They went to New World Fendalton, Ngaio Marsh Retirement Village, Fendalton Retirement Village, Misceos and Crisp.  They were wonderful at using their manners to thank all the lovely people saving bottle tops for us.  It was such tough work that we stopped for a drink at Crisp Cafe.

Discovery Time

Look at all the different things we have to choose from at Discovery Time.  We are enjoying thinking of our own creative ideas to make.
