Discovery Time Stars

We had 3 Discovery Time Stars this week who showed respect to others and our equipment.  Congratulations Alex, Budhaditya and Reina!

Discovery Time

It was awesome to see some of our Investigations learning happening during Discovery Time as well.  Riley and Isabel had a great time experimenting with different ramps and equipment to make pathways for the marble to travel.

Discovery Time

We were very excited to come back to school and see the changes in our learning spaces and the new things that had been purchased.  AND then we were able to use them during Discovery Time.  We LOVED our new kitchen unit and train table!  We had a great learning time, making sure that we showed respect to our new equipment and learnt where to put it back so the next person can use it easily.

Discovery Time Stars

This week we celebrated Pagen and Tyson who were our Discovery Time Stars.

We were very impressed by the way you both showed the value of Respect by packing away and organising the equipment without needing to be asked.

Logan and Tom both showed the Disposition of Respect during Discovery Time.  Congratulations boys for showing this independently!

Gardening Discovery

We are working hard to remove the weeds in the butterfly garden.  We use our time during Discovery Time to help the butterflies.  We learnt lots about working together, persevering, using our manners, and sharing the tools.  A great start was made on the weed issue.  You should have seen the size of some of the roots we were trying to pull out!  It was a little bit like the Enormous Turnip story when we all tried to work together to pull it out.  

Heather and Tom were our Discovery Time Stars this week for showing creativity in their activities.

We are learning how to be creative in our Discovery Time. Maya was one of our Discovery Time Stars today. Check out the video of her talking about her creation!

Being Collaborative at Discovery

At Discovery Time we are making some vertical gardens from old drink bottles.  We have to use a hammer and a nail to make holes in the bottles.  It is a bit tricky but when we collaborate with a friend, it makes the job easier and we both feel proud of what we have made.  We are looking forward to growing parsley, chives and basil in our gardens and being able to use these in our Discovery Time cafe.

 Destiny and Riley G were our Discovery Time Stars this week.  Great collaborating on the gardens and in the Outside space.

Discovery Time

Today we watched a youtube video and we had to work out how each part of it was showing our focus disposition of collaboration.

At the end of Discovery Time we celebrate those children who were our Discovery Stars.  This week congratulations go to Pagen, Collin and Maya.  Each of these students did a very different part of Collaboration.

We also have our reflection time.  This is the time where we think about our own actions at Discovery Time.  Today we looked at some photos that had been taken during Discovery Time and thought about what each person in the photos was doing and if it was Collaborative.  Some of the photos were taken because they were great fun, others because they showed Collaboration.  Can you find the photos that are collaborative?
