The Endeavour

Today's challenge was to make The Endeavour sailing ship.  We looked carefully at a picture of the ship Captain Cook sailed to New Zealand.  We compared this to the waka pictures we looked at earlier on in the week.  These ships had more sails and were larger.  We played Captain's Coming and pretended to wash the decks, climb the rigging and salute the Captain.
We asked some great questions about where the sailers would have slept and what they would have eaten on the ship on its big voyage from England.
We are looking forward to finding out more tomorrow at The Canterbury Museum and Riccarton House.
We just love these very focused learners photographs working hard on making their ships and sails.
